About Me:

My name is Keri. I am the Administrator at Leans 'N Slobbers and half of the webmaster team here at the Leans 'N Slobbers website.

I have owned great danes for almost 12 years, and admired them for much longer. My dream was always to own one of these majestic animals. In 1995, my dream came true (sort of) when I purchased by first dane, Hootch. Hootch was an amazing dog, so loyal and loving, yet was riddled with health problems which became evident before he was even an adult. Sadly, his puppy problems were easily dismissed as "typical" dane problems by the veterinarian I worked for, and I did not realize that they could have been avoided by selecting another breeder. I was so in love with Hootch, that when the breeder had her next litter, I bought another dane. Her name was Shelby and she was also the most amazing, wonderful dog. Hootch and Shelby were my sidekicks, I never went anywhere without them, and they cemented in my heart and soul, the incredible passion I have for this breed. They also taught me, through their pain as well as my own, the importance of educating people about Great Danes, and selecting an ethical, responsible breeder. They are both at the Rainbow Bridge now, but will never leave my heart.

I've been active in Great Dane rescue off and on since 1996. I am currently unable to be a foster home, but I still try to help out in other ways. It is an important need all over the world. I would encourage anyone to give a little a time once or twice a month, and help out in any way possible. I've had the pleasure of having several foster dogs, some that were with me up until their deaths because they were too ill or "damaged" to be adopted out.

I currently own one Great Dane, Hannah. Hannah is my pride and joy, my life, my love. She was born in June of 2005, shortly before my Shelby passed away. I knew when I saw her, she was the one for me. We bonded quickly and deeply, and she has been an unending source of amusement, joy, and love. She is loyal and protective, clownish and silly, smart as a whip, and a complete spitfire. She and I will be starting agility training in the beginning of 2007. I expect great things out of her.  I've also considered entering our very first conformation show next spring. I'm not sure if we'll do it or not, but it sure sounds fun!! I'm not worried about how SHE'LL do, I'm worried about ME!! I have a tendency to get a little befuddled in public.

I also own three cats, but I don't always admit that! Especially at three in the morning when they are running laps through the house, I don't claim any of them then.

So, there you have it. I hope you have enjoyed reading about me and my kiddos.
